Position:              Technical Services Engineer/Technologist

Concrete Ontario is looking for a professional engineer/certified engineering technologist to assist in expanding our technical and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate for this position will have:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess an Applied Science degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology
  • Be a licensed professional engineer or CET in the province of Ontario
  • Possess a valid Ontario drivers license
  • Have 5 – 8 years professional engineering or 10 – 15 years of civil engineering technologist work experience

Ideal Qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of concrete and its constituent materials
  • The ability to present technical information to a diverse audience
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Previous concrete construction and inspection experience
  • Proficiency in the use of standard office and presentation tools
  • Knowledge of the concrete industry, government standards, and design criteria
  • Familiarity with concrete acceptance and testing methods
  • Rigid and flexible pavement design knowledge and experience is a bonus

The candidate will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Establish strong ties with government agencies, contractors, and consultants
  • Provide concrete technical support to members, contractors, consultants and owners
  • Work with the design and consulting engineering community to update specifications
  • Supervise the associations concrete plant and truck certification programs
  • Work closely with Concrete Ontario members and association volunteers to achieve marketing and technical objectives
  • Implement Concrete Ontario policies and best practices as defined by the industry
  • Represent the association on industry committees and various standards bodies
  • Instruction of industry training programs for both members and industry stakeholders
  • Travel throughout Ontario to organize concrete promotional and educational seminars
