Seasonal Load Restrictions start March 1st

Posted February 24, 2017 in Transportation

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), along with many of the 444 municipalities across Ontario, enforces reduced load restrictions commencing March 1st.

Concrete Ontario reminds members to abide by the laws of the Provincial Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and/or Municipal By-Laws put in place during the reduced load season.

To assist members and their customers Concrete Ontario has developed a Seasonal Load Restriction (SLR) Tool Kit and collateral to obtain exemptions and/or permits during the reduced load season.

The Tool Kit was created as a step-by-step guide to assist members in attaining exemption permits during the Load Restriction Season. Alternatively, if a permit is not granted, we have developed 4 collateral pieces for members to use as talking points and leave behinds to help educate municipalities on the uniqueness of ready mixed concrete trucks, and what raising the weight allowance to 6,500 kg/axle would mean to better infrastructure and the local environment.

If you have any questions regarding the SLR Tool Kit or collateral, please contact the Concrete Ontario office at 905-507-1122.
