Concrete Ontario is pleased to be offering the Municipal Exterior Flatwork Certification Course. This course is tailored to showcase the best construction practices associated with Ontario municipal concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters and pavements. To pass this course, individuals will have to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of placing, consolidating, finishing, edging, jointing, curing and protecting municipal concrete sidewalks, curbs, gutters and pavements. The course is fully based on the current Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS), the national CSA Standards and local projects.
Written Exam
The written exam will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at the Ottawa Construction Association office.
Last day to register is Wednesday July 29th.
Your enrollment fee includes:
- 1 Workbook (couriered upon receipt of registration & payment)
- 1 Written Exam
This course consists of a workbook that breaks the municipal exterior concrete placement and finishing process into seven major chapter:
- Concrete Planning
- Concrete Production
- Site Preparation Before Concrete Placement
- Placement, Consolidation & Finishing
- Concrete Jointing
- Curing and Protection
- Concrete Troubleshooting
Training is provided via presentations by industry experts, self study via the course workbook and with online evaluation tools. The course includes a 50-question closed book written examination and the certification is valid for a five year period.
Test Accommodations
If any accommodations are needed by a participant to complete either the written or performance exam, please notify Concrete Ontario at the time of registration. Accommodations are only provided if the examinee makes the request prior to the exam date.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Course Cancellation by Concrete Ontario: Courses are subject to minimum enrollment requirements. Concrete Ontario reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course due to insufficient registration or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is cancelled by Concrete Ontario, registered participants will be offered the option to transfer their registration to the next available course scheduled within the current Concrete Ontario fiscal year (August 1–July 31) or receive a full refund to their original method of payment. If no additional course is scheduled within the current fiscal year, a full refund will be issued.
Registrant Cancellations: All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Concrete Ontario. Cancellations received 14 days or more prior to the course date will receive a refund of the registration fee, less a 20% administration fee. Cancellations received less than 14 days before the course date will result in a 100% forfeiture of the registration fee. No exceptions. Substitutions from the same company are permitted at any time prior to the course. Registrants who do not attend the course (“no-shows”) remain responsible for the full registration fee.
