MTO Concrete Contract of the Year Award

Established in 2016, the MTO Concrete of the Year Award recognizes one Provincial winner and finalists for excellence in all aspects of concrete work. Projects are rated on material quality, aesthetics and workmanship for production and placement of pre-cast and cast-in-place concrete, as well as concrete removal operations. Consideration is also given for innovation that; results in a better or quicker way to complete the work, provides a better final product, or uses a new technology. This award is different than the MTO Paver of the Year Award in that it recognizes the entire team involved in concrete work, including sub-contractors and suppliers. The reason for this difference is that prime contractors may complete much of the work themselves, but will also subcontract significant portions, including concrete supply. This award is presented at the ORBA Convention.

Provincial Concrete Contract of the Year Award: Contract 2015-4056

  • The prime contractor was Aecon Construction and Materials Limited.
  • The pre-cast components were by DECAST Limited.
  • The pre-cast girders were placed by Bot Construction Limited.
  • The concrete for cast-in-place operations was supplied by Lafarge Canada Incorporated’s Kingston plant.

Finalist:

  • The prime contractor was Aecon Construction and Materials Limited.
  • The pre-cast components were by DECAST Limited.
  • The concrete for cast-in-place operations was supplied by Parry Sound Ready Mix Limited.
