Delivery Vehicle Certification
Introduction
Concrete Ontario’s Approved Quality Program© for Ready Mixed Concrete Production Facilities includes certification cards for all concrete mixing and delivery vehicles (Section 4. Inspection and Certification of Delivery Vehicles). Drivers must place truck cards visibly on the interior of the rear window of the delivery vehicle.
Prerequisites for Certification
The delivery vehicle’s certification period is 2 years; however, stickers will be issued annually upon completion of the mid-term requirements.
OPTION A - Truck inspection is conducted by a licensed mechanic and audited by an Inspecting Engineer*
Each concrete producer must select one truck certification date for all their trucks. This date will then be listed on all truck certification stickers issued to the company. The following should be noted:
· Identify licensed mechanic(s) who will conduct the vehicle inspection for the required items in the Check List.
- Ensure that they are familiar with the requirements of the vehicle inspection (Section 4). A company manager should periodically supervise the inspection.
- Maintain an Individual Vehicle Inspection Record (Section 4.7) for each vehicle and a Summary of Fleet Condition (Section 4.8) on file for review by the Inspecting Engineer during the plant inspection process.
- The concrete truck inspections must be completed within a 2-month window prior to the truck certification date you selected, and a complete list of all concrete trucks (Summary of Fleet Condition) must be forwarded to the RMCAO, who will then issue truck certification stickers for the company’s entire fleet at once. The mechanic inspecting the vehicle and the company official should sign this form.
- At the time of your plant audit, the Inspecting Engineer will then verify that all the concrete trucks at the plant have certification stickers and will randomly inspect 25% of your trucks, as per the revised AQP Audit & Check List.
OPTION B - Truck inspection is conducted by an Inspecting Engineer*
Your truck certification date will be the same as your current plant certification date. The Inspecting Engineer inspects 100% of your delivery vehicles, completes the required information on the Individual Vehicle Inspection Record (Section 4.7 – company keeps on file) and submits the Summary of Fleet Condition – Inspecting Engineer (Section 4.9) to RMCAO for certification stickers.
* Inspecting Engineer must be listed on the RMCAO Approved Auditors’ List
